Running for Daisy

I'm raising money the Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research in New York City.
100% of every dollar you give supports new research directed by Dr. Renier Brentjens at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). Dr. Brentjens' lab focuses on immunotherapy research.
"No matter how promising the research or how inspired the scientists, nothing can happen without the resources to fund the work. We now have many reasons to feel hopeful about using T cells in the treatment of many kinds of cancer, and we wouldn't be where we are without the support from organizations like The Terry Fox Run." ~ Dr. Renier Brentjens
My cousin Daisy (4) recently had surgery to remove an atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor. This exceedingly rare form of brain cancer would have been fatal if it were found just a few years ago, but thanks to incredible research, Daisy's outlook is far more positive. Unfortunately, the surgery must be supplemented with one year of chemotherapy and radiation, a long and painful treatment for anyone, especially bright-eyed and sweet young Daisy. CAR (chimeric antigen receptor)-T cell therapy is an innovative new way of using the body's own immune system to target and destroy cancer cells, hopefully one day preventing the need for chemotherapy and radiation. It is already approved to fight certain leukemias, lymphomas, and myelomas. I am running to raise money for immunotherapy research to one day expand treatment options of rare brain cancers like Daisy's. Join me in raising money!
Please also consider donating to the Esmond Nissim Center for Integrated Pediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital (https://give.wmchealth.org/give/371612/#!/donation/checkout), where her healthcare team is doing incredible work to save her life.
