Running for My Family
This year I'm running with the Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown team in the Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research on Saturday, October 3 in Central Park, and I'd be grateful for your support.
WHY I'M RUNNING
I'm running for my family. I lost my uncle Heath to a rare, aggressive form of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and my grandma survived breast cancer, and another uncle is fighting melanoma right now. The money raised here funds AML research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. That's the exact disease that took my uncle, and it's exactly the kind of work that could give families like mine more time
A PROMISE WORTH KEEPING
In 1980, Terry Fox, a 21-year-old who had lost his leg to bone cancer, set out to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. He covered 3,300 miles before the cancer returned. Isadore Sharp, the founder of Four Seasons, had lost his own son to cancer. He wrote to Terry and promised to hold a run in his name every year. That promise became the Terry Fox Run, which has since raised more than $1 billion worldwide. Running it as a Four Seasons team is how we keep that promise going.
WHERE YOUR GIFT GOES
100% of every dollar raised in New York goes to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where it funds Dr. Anthony Daniyan's work developing the next generation of CAR T cell immunotherapy. This treatment reprograms a patient's own immune cells to find and destroy leukemia. Terry Fox Run funding has helped move his research into clinical trials for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Dr. Daniyan says that without it, the work would be years behind.
EVERY GIFT MOVES THE RESEARCH FORWARD
No amount is too small. If your employer offers matching gifts, your donation can go twice as far. Can't make the run? Donations are open through the end of the year.
Thank you for being part of the Marathon of Hope.
