American Friends of Team Julia
This fund is for American friends of Julia Hackim Jacobs or her daughter, Rebecca who wish to support Team Julia at the Terry Fox Run in Thornhill, Canada. Visit the original fundraiser here: https://run.terryfox.ca/team/julia
This year, the Terry Fox Run falls on Julia’s birthday, September 14.
In her memory, our team will be participating in Thornhill, the community where she built a home for her and so many others.
The Terry Fox Run has long been a tradition among children at local schools. It’s something her daughter Rebecca and so many other of her beloved students took part in every year, and it feels deeply meaningful to now run in her memory, on this day, in this place.
Julia was never defined by her journey with cancer, but rather, her generous spirit and her love of life.
Team Julia is raising funds for the Terry Fox Research Institute in Canada, an organization pioneering innovation in cancer research. We invite you to join us in celebrating Julia by donating or participating in the event alongside Rebecca, who will be running the 10K.
The the first $2,000 (Canadian dollars) in total donations across both fundraisers will be matched on the Canadian fundraiser to make the most of our impact.
100% of donations raised via the U.S.-based fundraiser will be directed to support new research directed by Dr. Anthony Daniyan at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). Dr. Daniyan’ lab focuses on immunotherapy research to treat acute and chronic leukemias.
Let’s come together to honour Julia—by giving, by showing up, and by continuing the legacy of community, kindness, and faith that she lived every day.
