My survival story
" Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life"
My journey surviving the cancer has been the battle for the entire family, my husband, daughter, parents, parents-in-law, sister and brother-in-law. Without their tenacious love, I would not have survived.
It was also a battle won by those who saved me - Dr. Douglas Wong from MSKCC, who passed away in 2013, and Dr. Fong, without their top quality surgery I could not have survived.
It was a battle joined by Dr. Qi Li in Shanghai, a visiting scholar at Cornell who I met at the time of the onset, and who devoted hundreds or thousands of his off clinic hours to patiently guide me through all critial stages of the treatment, and who saved not only me, but also my entire family.
It was a battle joined by Coach Randall Lane and Elizabeth Sanchez of GVLL, who taught my daughter the sport of softball and made her a pitcher and captain; who practiced the values of teamwork, compassion and made us true New Yorker!
It was a battle joined by family friends and mentors Amelia and Robert Carling, Jim and Carmen Esteves-Strauss, Ma Wei and Shen Hui, who celebrated Lunar New Years over the past decade with exuberance, warmth and creativity and made us feel home away from home.
It was a battle joined by friends and mentors Xu Liping, Dr June Xiao, Jasmine Shao, Dr. JJ Gao's family and many sisters and brothers at Jin Bodi Meditation, with whom we built a village to raise our children and take care of our elderlys.
I'm raising money the Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research in New York City.
100% of every dollar you give supports new research directed by Dr. Renier Brentjens at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). Dr. Brentjens? lab focuses on immunotherapy research to treat acute and chronic leukemias.
"No matter how promising the research or how inspired the scientists, nothing can happen without the resources to fund the work. We now have many reasons to feel hopeful about using T cells in the treatment of many kinds of cancer, and we wouldn't be where we are without the support from organizations like The Terry Fox Run." ~ Dr. Renier Brentjens
CANCER IS NEVER STRAIGHTFORWARD
Cancer touches too many lives and hits too close to home, so I am doing what I can to stop this terrible disease. I am committed to raising money to help fund Dr. Brentjens? research at MSK, and I need your help. Please make any size donation to join me in this fight!
SUPPORT LIFESAVING RESEARCH
None of Dr. Brentjens? research would have been possible without the resources from donors like you.
